In Bloom: Angel's Parasol Hydrangea

Although I treasure each and every variety in our hydrangea garden, I find the Angel's Parasol is one of the most dazzling.  It produces a unique and very delicate flower with soft tear-shaped petals.  The pale periwinkle blue or lavender color is stunning and the blossoms are textured, appearing to have an almost powdery finish.

Our plant was purchased a few years ago as a decorative piece for an indoor party.  After the event, I  planted it in the ground where it spread and more than doubled in size.  Now every summer there are many blooms to bring indoors.  Above is an arrangement I created featuring this hydrangea along with other summer garden flowers.
